No. An initial discussion to understand your matter, identify whether we are the right firm and outline the likely scope is free of charge. Substantive advice begins only once we have run a conflict check and you have signed an engagement letter.

During office hours we aim to respond to enquiries within two working hours. Out-of-hours emergencies — for example freezing orders or urgent injunctions — are routed to the duty partner via the out-of-hours number above.

Where the scope of a matter is sufficiently defined, yes. We also offer capped fees, conditional fee arrangements and damages-based agreements depending on the nature of the dispute. Fee structures are agreed in writing before we begin work.
