A judgment or arbitration award is only valuable if it can be enforced. Without a coherent enforcement strategy, even a strong judgment can remain a paper victory — leaving unresolved balance-sheet exposures and unhelpful signals to the market. Enforcement strategy should be planned early: asset location, debtor structure and recoverability determine whether recovery will be swift, negotiated or contested.
STA Legal's judgment enforcement and asset recovery team helps clients convert judgments and awards into real recoveries. We advise on the full range of domestic and cross-border enforcement tools, asset tracing and the use of court powers to secure payment or negotiated outcomes, including in fraud-linked recovery work where assets have been concealed or dissipated.

Asset tracing and fraud-linked recovery
Enforcement strategy should start before proceedings are issued, not after judgment. The right forum, the right defendant, the right interim protection — these decisions made early often determine whether the eventual judgment can be realised at all.
Where assets have been concealed or moved, we work closely with experienced investigators and forensic accountants to map structures and recovery routes, then deploy the court's powers to compel disclosure, freeze assets and pursue third-party recipients.
Effective enforcement depends on where assets are located. We assess enforceability of UK judgments and arbitral awards in key jurisdictions, coordinate with trusted foreign counsel, and factor enforcement considerations into forum and structure choices at the outset of disputes — rather than treating enforcement as an afterthought.
